    Attention all ocean enthusiasts! Join us for the free 14th Annual Whalefest Monterey, where the wonders of the deep blue meet the curious minds of land-dwellers, on Saturday and Sunday, April 13th and 14th, 2024. Whalefest Monterey is set against the beautiful backdrop of the Monterey Bay at and around Old Fisherman’s Wharf, Stanton Center and Custom House Plaza.

    Whalefest Monterey isn't just an event; it's an immersive experience for families with edutaining activities catering to all ages. Learn cutting-edge information from a variety of marine experts at the Symposium. Enjoy the fun of live music and dance. Explore marine-related interactive exhibits presented by both local and national organizations. Climb aboard several research and rescue boats.

    Whalefest Monterey – Interactive Displays – Saturday, April 13th

    Whalefest Monterey will feature over three dozen educational and engaging interactive displays from local, regional and national non-profits. Stop by and talk with well-informed organization representatives.

    Whalefest Monterey Symposium at the Stanton Center – Sunday, April 14th

    Dive into the vast ocean of knowledge with Dan Haifley, the Whalefest Monterey Symposium MC as he guides us through a day filled with insights from eight esteemed speakers in the world of marine research and ocean conservation, with topics focusing on otters, sharks, whale entanglement and much more.

    Live Music & Dance Entertainment

    Enjoy outstanding performances and activities awaiting you both days, including performances by Celtic Roads, Kuumbwa Jazz Honor Band, Nicholas Fettis and His "Orca"stra, Jonah and the Whale Watchers, and many others.

    Activities for all ages – Both Days!

    Don’t miss other fun activities like Gyotaku, Scrimshaw, Whale Origami, Wharf Walks, a Calamari Cooking Demo with calamari cooked three different ways by Chef Tene Shake and the “almost famous” Abalone Races on Old Fisherman’s Wharf.

    In addition, Save the Whales returns with Dee, the 43-foot inflatable whale model on Saturday only.  You can go inside of it and see its internal organs! Also, see “Gracie" the 30-foot real gray whale skeleton from Mission Science Workshop in San Francisco.

    Several research and rescue boats will be open for public tours, including the return of the Western Flyer (Sunday only- pre-register for a tour), Current’ Sea, Pearl and NOAA’s Fulmar (Saturday only).

    Don’t miss a weekend of discovery, inspiration, and a whole lot of fun at the 14th Annual Whalefest Monterey.
